What Can Believers Learn from the Topic of Growth Mindset - Introduction

I want to explore the topic of Mindset through three lenses: personal experience, leadership development, and Christian faith. I’ve seen firsthand how a fixed mindset can limit growth for pastors and entire churches. Romans 12:2 speaks of transformation through the renewal of the mind, and Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus on what is true, noble, and praiseworthy. A growth mindset isn’t just a leadership tool; it’s a biblical principle. I have addressed this to pastors specifically, but the insights and application are for all believers.

Why do pastors need a growth mindset? Because the challenges are real - and they’re not going away. Burnout is rising. Congregations are aging or shrinking. Change is met with resistance. And while it’s easy to blame culture, trends, or tired systems, the biggest barrier often isn’t out there. It’s in here. It’s the mindset we carry into the pulpit, the staff meeting, and the late-night prayer. Our minds need a blessed hope. A

Each of the ten strategies in this book includes all three perspectives - practical application, leadership insights, and biblical wisdom - along with a step-by-step exercise to help you put the ideas into action. While God does the work of transformation, we are not passive. Scripture calls us to renew our minds, to pursue growth, and to be good stewards of the leadership He entrusts to us. My hope is that you find this book both insightful and practical, equipping you to cultivate a mindset of growth in your own life and church.

Turning Growth into a Habit - Daily Wins

As a scout, I had a coin with a mission. One side showed the scout badge; the other read: "Secretly transfer me to your right pocket after your good turn is done." Every day, I had to earn the right to move it.

Try something similar with a domino - but raise the bar. Start with it in your left pocket, and don’t move it until you’ve practiced one of the strategies twice or applied it in a real situation. No shortcuts. The domino is proof of momentum, faithful obedience, and ongoing transformation. At the end of the day, put the domino on your desk and get another domino to put in your left pocket. Keep stacking wins, and soon, the domino effect will take over. Take a picture of your growing stack and share it with me - Contact
